I gave this book to my son last night as he had "NOTHING to read" - with a bookshelf full of books not read yet. This was at 6 o'clock. A bit of moaning later (he is a reluctant reader!) and I had to force him to read on (as he's got to read as part of his homework) and left him to it, exasperated. I found him at 6:30 lying on his bed, reading. Checked on him at 7, 8 and 9 o'clock, he was still reading. I had to drag him into the bathroom to get himself ready for bed. When I got up at 6:30 this morning, he was awake, in his bed - reading. He's half way through the book now and I will definately get the next one. Thank you Ali Sparkes!

This book will appeal to average 9yrs +. The language is simple and plot pretty straightforward. I've used it as a class novel for my year 5 class and most of them liked it..

I was totally gripped by this book. Being a year 5 teacher I like to spend my holidays reading a few new children's books. I read this from cover to cover in one day and simply coudn't put it down. The pace and humour are perfectly engineered by the author and it should appeal to any child between the ages of 9-13.

I am 9 and my Mum bought me this book after we saw it winning the Book of the Year award from Blue Peter. I am reading it now and I love it, I just can't put it down. I think that it really deserved the Book of the Year prize.

I bought this book after seeing that it had won Blue Peter 'Book you couldn't put down award', for my 9 year old son. But I have to admit I started to read it and I couldn't put it down (so, sorry but he had to wait). Loved it!!
