I should have looked at the other notes. I love cooking I have Leiths bible and similar books. It is not recipes I want as they are usually of no use; it is the explanation of how and why you do something so that you can experiment intelligently. I am new to Chinese cooking and wanted a solid substantial book to work from; this is not the one. It is glossy and just menu card recipes. Disappointed I went to the local library and took out Yan-kit's classic Chinese cookbook; secrets from a Chinese kitchen and Asian Cook Terry Tan. I am now happy.
Truthfully, I couldn't care less if the author is young or pretty or has a TV program.
No more no. 19 for me! August 12, 2010 Emma Coldicott 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I owned this book for 2 years before plucking up the courage to actually try one of the recipes. Since then I try and cook 1 recipe a week from it and, so far, all have been great. Recipes are simple to follow and contain easy to source ingredients. It's certainly inspired me to throw away my local Chinese take-away menu.

Its fantastic!! Even my son uses this book instead of buying take away meals. Saves him money and he will lose weight into the bargain. Much healthier than the pizzas he ordered. Only problem should have ordered two as he has claimed the book and is taking the book abroad with him this year.
