All I need February 23, 2010 A. Carter (London, UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Ok, so, I really wanted to take the GMAT. I purchased this book to get the ball rolling. I got this book and it is FULL of sample questions and advice on how to answer the questions. This book is full--FULL of the information that you need. Dare I say that this book is the only book you need? I bought this one and I also got an earlier edition from a colleague who took and passed the GMAT. I would definitely recommend this book. As a matter of fact, I stopped writing in the book because I would like to keep it in "reference" form. I mean, I really don't know what to say about the book because it met and exceeded my high expectations for a test prep book.
Plenty to Practice February 15, 2010 hoobooboo (uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Dung loads of actual questions for you to practice... some will rack your brains (take it as a good sign as the harder the question the more points it will yield!)
A default buy for anyone who's looking at the GMAT really!
GMAT Official review 12th edition January 21, 2010 Max Howard (London, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought the 12th edition of the official GMAT guide and supplemented it with the 2009 versions of the Quantative and the Verbal review books for my GMAT test last year. I was not taking any revision courses (since I was funding this myself) and so was solely reliant on these books.
I found that running through the section prep section and sample questions in this book were sufficient to prepare me for the course (the supplemental guides provided more different questions which I found beneficial). As stated before, some of the earlier questions are easy but there are enough to cover all difficulty levels. The majority of the explanations for the answers were clear enough to understand.
I can't comment about the other guides as I haven't used them but I found that buying these three books was sufficient and it's clear that the questions asked are in the style of the real test.
As a final recommendation, I used the sample tests on the GMAT.com website to prepare for the style of the test and for more questions. This gave a good impression of the test and the timing restrictions faced (my experience was it was tight to finish all questions for the quantative section).
Overall, worth buying in addition to the Official guide and to help prepare for the test.
